“End of Parallel Cinema Era: Shyam Benegal Passes Away”

It was Year 1976. A leading Director of Indian Parallel Cinema was making a movie on Diary Farmers of Gujurat. on his surprise Every Farmers contributed 2 Rs each to make the amount Rs 5 Lakhs. in 1976 the value of 2 Rupees is much more. and the movie was made and the movie was a scripted the sucess story in box office. The movie Name is Manthan( Churning)and people mostly diary farmers loaded with trucks to see the movie as the story is based on the white revolution ie Diary production in Gujrat state. The charasmetic Director is none other than Dr Shyam Benegal who is no more .On 23rd December he died at the age of 90. Dr Shyam Benegal was born in konkani brahamin Family in Hyderabad. His father was a prominent Photographer that time. Shyam Benegalwas cousin of Guru Dutt as thier Grandmothers were Sisters. He has started his Copywriter,He made his first documentary Film in Gujurati,Gher Betha Ganga( Ganga at Doorstep) in 1962. Benegala first Four Films Ankur ,Nishant,Manthan ,Bumika Made him Pioneer in the parallael cinema. Some more noteable films are Saradari Begum,Mommo,and Zubeida.He also directed the Junoon movie with Sashi kapoor. Bharath Ek Khoj was the popular series which is based on Pandit JN Nehuru Discovery of India has been directed by Dr shyam Benegal. His films has won seven National awards,He was warded with Padma Bhushan,Padma Bibhushan,And for his life time achievment he was awrded with V shantaram life time achievment award and Dada Saheb Phalke award which is biggest award in indian film industry.He was awarded with Padmashree and Padmabhushan by the Givernment of India. His legacy with the touching every section of society and the people will be rememberd throughout in cinema circle. He is the 2nd person after Satyajit Ray who has given some of the beautiful parallel cinema in indian film industry. Rest in Peace .. Shyam Benegal.The Information Media
