Koraput, February 2026: A mega voluntary blood donation camp was successfully organized today at DAV College of Teacher Education, Koraput. A total of 70 units of blood were collected during the programme, which was conducted under the initiative of the IQAC Cell of the college.The Chief Guest, Dr. Susanta Kumar Sahu, Superintendent of Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital, encouraged students to actively participate in voluntary blood donation and highlighted its importance in saving lives. The District Youth Red Cross Coordinator, Dr. Naresh Chandra Sahu, addressed the gathering virtually and created awareness about different aspects of blood donation. He also appealed to students to come forward and donate blood regularly.In the undivided Koraput district, many patients suffer from Sickle Cell Anaemia and frequently require blood transfusions. A large number of such patients visit Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital, where shortage of blood in the blood bank often creates serious challenges. Considering this urgent need, the camp was organized under the guidance of Principal Smt. Jharana Sahu and coordinated by Assistant Professor Dr. Purna Chandra Tanti.Faculty members, Students’ Union representatives, and students actively supported the initiative. The Blood Bank officials of Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College efficiently managed the collection process.With strong participation from students and staff, the camp concluded successfully with the collection of 70 units of blood. Collecting 70 units from an institution of around 200 students has been widely appreciated by the public, and the college authorities received praise from various quarters
