A major accident occurred at Kannauj railway station in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, January 11, 2025, after a ceiling slab of an under-construction building suddenly collapsed. According to reports, 23 people have been rescued, while 20 sustained minor injuries and are undergoing treatment. Unfortunately, three people are seriously injured and have been referred to Lucknow for further medical attention .
The incident happened during construction work for a new terminal at Kannauj railway station, which is part of the Amrit Bharat Yojana project. The under-construction lintel collapsed, trapping several workers and railway staff under the debris.
Emergency services were quickly deployed to the site, and rescue operations are currently underway. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken note of the accident and directed officials to expedite relief efforts and ensure proper treatment for those injured .
