Mumbai, Oct 20, 2025:
Bollywood’s beloved comedian and character actor Govardhan Asrani, fondly known as Asrani, passed away on Sunday at the age of 84. The veteran actor breathed his last in Mumbai after a prolonged illness.

According to family sources, Asrani had been unwell for several months and was recently admitted to a city hospital due to respiratory complications. His last rites were performed at the Santacruz Crematorium in Mumbai in the presence of close family members and colleagues.

With a remarkable career spanning over five decades, Asrani appeared in more than 350 films across Hindi and Gujarati cinema. Known for his impeccable comic timing, he became a household name with iconic roles in films like Sholay (1975), Chupke Chupke, Bawarchi, Abhimaan, and Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar.
